Sue:

I think your offer to produce some templates for
DNA surname web pages is a terrific idea. When
I started our project I knew we needed a web site
as a focal point, but I had absolutely no experience.
None of our first few test subjects had any html
experience either. I looked at available templates
but they all had a string attached. I finally klutzed
something together, but it is still crude.

Make a template, put it online and ask for
suggestions/critiques, I'm sure you'll get plenty.

One other point though, someone just starting
needs some minimal guidance on web hosts,
uploading files, etc. What kind of software is
needed for the basic editing. How to get the
templates from your web site to a file on their
computer, really very basic stuff. Probably a
one page suggestion / how to guide as part of
your template page(s). Then if you don't want
to answer questions from lots of people who
are just starting, like me, add a disclaimer
that the templates are provided free, but
you do not have the time to provide further
guidance. We all realize that you can't
devote all of your time to making free web
pages for others.

Can we get a community definition of a template design?
Do you have a layout in mind? If the community can design
it I'd be happy to code it. Or if anyone already has done this,
y'all can just ignore me :)
