Hmm, that makes me wonder if they used the Y-STR database, which has
contributions from Colombia.
What were your brother's actual numbers for the various DYS markers? It could
even have been a European haplotype, which just happens to have a branch that
migrated to Colombia. You can check his results at http://www.ystr.org. Did
they give your brother a haplogroup assignment?
