There are a substantial number of otherwise smart people who translate
ranges, confidence intervals, and probabilities to something exact - one
example is that one of my ancestors differs from a same-surname
self-identified cousin by one fast-moving marker (in the first 12, with
a 24/25), and the statement made is that their MRCA is 31 generations
back.
