The indigenous people of India are South Indians....correct and also they
are mostly dark complexioned but I don't think that has got any definite
relation to the Sun. They are " Dravidians" .
There are still aborigines who live in the Indian jungles in the Midwest
and South. They are quite dark complexioned too. Now they do come out to the
nearby towns to bart their produce. I have of course seen them only in the
documentaries. Now I remember their grey hair but I thought that was due to
their aging. Good to learn that they have blonde hair by nature.
On the other hand, the North Indians are of fairer complexion, mostly
wheatish/ light brown and much sharper features mostly black hair, believed
to be migrants from the Sindhu Valley. They are the Indo-Aryans and close to
the Caucasians.
I am a Newbie from North India who has been involved in the earlier HLA
studies of the North Indians in health and disease in the midseventies. Our
studies showed the distribution of the HLA types in both health and disease
very similar to those in the Caucasians. However I changed my line of
research in the early eighties after getting frustrated with the HY antigen.
Very little was known then about it except that it was a minor antigen and
quite difficult to identify. Its practical application was in the diagnosis
of people with sexual abnormalities with a hope to use this as a guide to
the surgical correction /modification of the sex.
Now I am Genealogy illiterate and coincidentally found and subscribed to
this site
which is quite an eye opener with all the advances that have taken place and
everyone wanting to know who am I ?
I am a retired 64 y.o female MD pathologist by the way.
