I think it is highly unlikely if not downright impossible. They
might, just possibly, cause an amplification failure and thus
require a retest.

There is really only one case I can think of that could cause
a false result, and that only with the people who use mouthwashes
instead of scrapes, and that is gay kissing or oral sex. Obviously
for an MTDNA test kissing with either sex could, in theory, cause
a wrong result, as could oral sex.

I suppose eating could too if you were into raw cannibalism :-) :-(
