Will FTDNA send the kit by air mail by default?

Yes, I agree with Jim. I had one participant send his kit back from
Scotland via surface mail - it never did arrive. Always request that your
UK participants use "Swift Air", the UK equivalent of "Global Priority
Post" in the US. Of course I have participants in Oz, NZ, Canada etc. but
the basic maxim is that the kit should go air mail both directions.
