They say that "Birds of a feather, etc."

I have had both Y-DNA and mtDNA tested. My Y haplogroup appears to be J2
(pending SNP confirmation). I am surprised that my mtDNA haplogroup turns
out to be J*. The genealogical trail for both sides came through Virginia
and Kentucky. I know that the patrilinial line came from France through
England to Virginia. Although I have not been able to prove my mtDNA line
back beyond 1828 in Russell County, Virginia, MOST of the Virginia
immigrants came from Northwest Europe.

Clearly, my mtDNA line COULD have come from almost anywhere. What are the
odds of two "J" trails converging on me at this place and point in time?

Females have been attracting males through the use of pheromones since the
beginning of two sexes, or so we thought. Have they actually been
attracting us with unknown ( and unknowable) mtDNA haplogroups? :)
