I agree that a 34/37 match with a different surname may not really be as
close as it seem.
However, I suggest you fully investigate each one. I have a 34/37 match
with a different surname *but* we also share some rare alleles, i.e.
DYS448=15. In fact, he and I are the only two people with this marker value
in all the public databases I have been able to explore. Bennett tells me
that we are the only two in the FTDNA database with DYS448=15.
Sometime these is gold in them thar hills - but you have to dig.

Sounds to me as though you two have the makings of a really interesting
Barlow conversation.

My point in replying is just to strengthen Phil's caution that without
supplementary evidence 33/37 and 34/37 matches are not really as close as
they may seem. I have several such matches (and even one 35/37) with other
surnames. But I'm still waiting for the second Wilson with anything even
remotely close to a match as close as those.
