Don't you think royalty married mainly within their "kind"? Look at Europe
at the outbreak of WWI. A large fraction of European royalty descended from
Queen Victoria of Great Britain. It is true all the eligible spouses for a
royal person did not live in the same valley, but there certainly was a
restricted pool of acceptable candidates.

In fact when you go back a lot of
