John,

As I see it yes. There is a link to "learn more" in the lower bottom
left of the test results page which takes you too a FamilyTreeDNA.com
special webpage where you can sign/check off an online release form and
have your data added to their proprietary database, and as I interpret
the verbiage on that page ... once you've done that you can then order
more tests directly from them. I could not explore that link more since
I was a guest on Georgia's son's results page.

OK I find this a bit disappointing as Charles doesn't indicate anywhere they
specifically mention Surname Projects as a way to "learn more." Or even as
existing. Or that joining their proprietary database gives them the
opportunity to join a Surname Project. Or an explanation of what a Surname Project
can do for you.

If I were someone not already as into this as we are, based on Charles's
description of what's there, I think I'd see this as a place to buy more
markers, and if I had no reason to think I would want to or need to, I'd just blow
it off.

Have any of the Project Admins gotten any new members today from this?
Maybe now that we know the results are beginning to come in we can watch for new
Project participants coming in from the NGS project? And report to the list?
