Louis,

I don't doubt there is K2 in Australia, but the predominant aboriginal
Australian haplogroup is C -- defined by M130 (or RPS4Y).

Underhill (2000) found K2 (M70) in Morocco and in India/Pakistan.

List,

I had an Italian grandfather who seemed to be in Haplogroup O1. Because of
this I thought he was from Mongol/Hun ancestry. Well after SNP results from
Family Tree DNA, he was surprisingly assigned to Haplogroup K2 (matching
closely some Ashkenazi Jews interestingly!).

I read a bit about Haplogroup K2, and it seems to have originated in Arabia,
and then back-migrated into Northern Africa, and it reaches its highest
concentration among a tribe in the countries of Niger and Nigeria
(sub-Saharan West Africa). However, Haplogroup K also seems to have made it
to Australia where it gave rise to the Australian Aboriginies.

I checked HYPERLINK "http://www.ysearch.org/"www.ysearch.org and found that
about 17 people have reported being in Haplogroup K, from Portugal to
England. This was a surprise result, and so little is talked about
Haplogroup K, that I thought this would be interesting to bring up.

If anyone wants to add to my knowledge of Haplogroup K2, then please go
ahead!

Best,

Louis Loccisano
