Ken and John,
I appreciate your responses and the level of expertise you and others bring to this subject. Using "old school" genealogy our team of researchers has a well documented 350 year family history. The jump to Ireland is still the mystery and as you know, many in 1650 couldn't write their own name. That is true of our earliest identified ancestor who phonetically came pretty close to Morrough..

We will continue pushing on both fronts and will eventually narrow it down further. If nothing else I am more certain than ever of the Irish connection.

Thanks again for taking the time to respond,
Larry

The third panel has higher average mutation rate markers. Perhaps that is
some consolation? I estimate most likely common ancestor 750 years ago, but
most likely has wide intervals of confidence on either side, so I'd say a
common ancestor 600 years ago is still in the cards or ballpark.

> I recently had my DNA test expanded from 25 markers to 37. Prior to the
test my closest match was a McGovern and we had a 24/25 match. We only
differed on 458 where I was a 19 and he was 18.

additional markers each with a value difference of one (from 26-37). Does
there still appear to be a likely connection if we go back 600 years or
more? He is still my closest match for 37 markers.
