In theory, if there were no non-paternity events every Warren should have the same Y-DNA signature. Since there has never been an "at warren" or similar surname, it has been posited that all Warrens of England descend from William de Warrenne of 1066 fame.
William had holdings in Norfolk and my gg grandfather was Charles Warren Clarke Faux with the Warren part coming from his grandfather whose ancestors lived at Great Ellingham, Norfolk for as far back as the records go (the 1500s thanks to the Manorial Records). Thus there should be an ancestral haplotype to be located, and those brick walled in the USA would do well to follow the Warren research in England and join forces with them.
