Whit and the rest of the folks associated with the journal,

This is a much needed resource for the genomics community. Thank you so
much.

Genetics for genealogy is often misunderstood both from the common use
perspective and clearly is not understood as a whole in the context of
the technical specifics. While I'm an old timer on the list, I often
fail to be able to "put the pieces together" from various and different
posts at different times. Sometimes I'm not sure of a concensus, if
there even is one. This journal promises to put the pieces together and
explain those pieces in a manner that someone relatively familiar with
the genetic genealogy landscape can understand. All of the articles in
this first issue are wonderful, and I'm very pleased to see some very
familiar names present.

Congratulations to all of you on the board and also those who are guest
authors. We are indeed privileged to be undertaking this pioneering
journey with so many intelligent, qualified people to help us along the
way. While sometimes the list is "slogging through the mud", the
journal promises to be more "outcome" or at least "current thinking"
based that is offered in presentation format (as opposed to list
snippets and sound bytes).

A wonderful beginning!

Roberta Estes

Dear List,

I would like to announce the inaugural issue of a new (free) on-line
journal, the Journal of Genetic Genealogy (JoGG). A number of people,
whose
names you will probably recognize as contributors to this list, have
worked
very hard to bring you this journal. You may see the first issue at the
JoGG web site:
