Ironic is that there are probably "descendants" of the qualifying ancestor
who aren't descendants of him at all because of non-paternity events but they
have a paper trail which show the right relationships. I know I have a WEBB
line in which there is paper documentation in Civil War pension papers of one
WEBB being the uncle of another WEBB but descendants of the uncle have a
different DNA than the descendants of the nephew. Now I have no idea if either
line's descendants are members of a hereditary society or not, but it does
point up the the fact that paper trails can admit people with no genetic
descendancy.
