No, there is not final test for Y-DNA. However, the 43-marker test offered by Relative Genetics and DNAHeritage is clearly a superior test to FTDNA's 37-marker test. It costs $195 at www.relativegenetics.com and $199 (individual) and $189 (group) at www.dnaheritage.com.
FTDNA's website says that a full mtDNA sequence test is the "only (or final)
mtDNA test that one will ever need to take" and I haven't seen anyone
dispute that. Is there a corollary for Y-DNA? In other words, is there a test now
or in the foreseeable future that is the only (or final) Y-DNA test that a
male will ever need to take?
If not, is there anything available or emerging that is superior to FTDNA's
Y-DNA 37-marker test? If so, who, what, where, how much, etc.?
