Although there seems no statistical evidence that YCAIIa,b "doubles" up in
common events with the correlated triplet events at CDY, 464, 459, I hve
long suspected that YCAIIa,b does double up more frequently than "it should"
in the haplogroups I watch closely. If I look at I1a and I1c (with 14 at
393) which both have modals of 19,21 at YCAIIa,b, and compare the 19,19 and
21,21 populations (which would be conventional two steps of mutation from
the modal) with the populations of all the one step mutations from modal,
the doubled up motifs at YCAIIa,b in these haplogroups are unusually large.
In other words, it looks like the doubled up haplotypes in these haplogroups
with 19,19 and 21,21 did not arrive there by two one-step mutations, but
rather got there by some special kind of two-step process like perhaps a
recombination on palindrome P5, and this two-step process has an occurrence
rate comparable to or exceeding the normal one-step mutation rate for this
relatively slow-mutating marker.
