I appreciate very much Ethnoancestry's interest in and willingness to work
with those of us interested in doing these population subclade studies. I
will work hard to find you well over a couple orders for both P78 and P95.
They happen to both look like they are in the midst of continental I1c (the
largest part of I1c) but definitely different types within. This shows
most, as I touched on in message to Anne, by their different DYS464 motifs
which is supported by a Ysearch count at this marker which shows the 2
motifs.

There are many possible scenarios which we on the list can straighten out
way before any academic study gets to such detail. For instance, M223
presently defines I1c. Are P78 and P95 both just upstream or are they
downstream of M223, or one up and one down, etc.? We might expect from
tidbits of different evidence that they are both downstream, but that is by
no means certain. Remember, a couple months ago we only had the FTDNA tree
to tell us that P78 and P95 were with question marks at one of a number of
places in the haplogroup I tree. Now we can be pretty confident that they
both lie within I1c.

Ken
