Going with the 8,8 at DYS459a,b that is interesting. Is the haplotype
14,14,14,14 but being recorded as just a single peak at 14 repeats which is
what they literally saw?

Then we might have an example of one of those "doubling" events due to
deletion or recombination or "loss of heterozogity" as Thomas Krahn calls
it.
