Dear Gareth

1) There is a hint that the STR clusters may be align with S21 status,
but at n=1 for many clusters it is too early to call at this stage.

2) The reason for greater numbers in the 3 named clusters? Well in the
phase 3 analysis there were 434 individuals in these 3 groups out of
2553 R1b (17%) and as of last night (my time) they made up 9/22 with
results (41%). So my answer is yes they are represented more frequently,
because they are bigger clusters, but the discussion on the list must
have also played a part as well. David's comments on the list inferring
that Jim has some research samples S21+ but outside of the Frisian group
suggest to me that we should be cautious until we get a more samples
from the other clusters. I am updating the data again for further
results and will make some further comments after I have finished.

Cheers

John McEwan

John

thanks. So far the data seems consistent i.e. each cluster for which S21
results are available is either all S21+ or S21-.
Do the greater numbers of results for the 3 named clusters (Frisian,
Scots,
Irish) reflect the sizes of the clusters or are members of these
clusters
signing up for testing because they have previously been identified and
discussed on the list?

I noticed earlier today that your "comments" section still mentions only
3
S21+ results. Are you able to add anything now that we have 6 positive
results?

Regards

Gareth
