Diana, I don't know why you hesitate to identify with I1a-AS5. That is
such an unusual variety and you match so powerfully? DYS388 plus DYS393
plus DYS385 certainly trump DYS19. What would you like to learn from
further tests? You could verify I1a1 by having a P40 test done. We're
still looking for the first I1a to come up negative for I1a1. Being from
more southerly part of the I1a range in Europe makes for an interesting
possibility that you might escape the P40 mutation and represent a more
ancient line of I1a?

Congratulations, Ken. This is a major achievement, and you are very
generous to
share the results of your research with us.
I've been anxiously awaiting the spreadsheet to see if I could place the
Haplogroup I STRAUBs in my project into subclades. Alas, there is not
perfect
match, which I shouldn't have expected, really, considering that all three
lines
have unique haplotypes.
With regard to one of them (my own line), I'm prepared to hog-tie my cousin
again to get a sample for further SNP testing. Would you be so kind as to
recommend a testing regimen for him? His SNP test at FTDNA is P19+, and his
FTDNA markers are:
1-12
14 22 15 11 13,13 11 16 11 12 11 28
13-25
15 8,9 8 11 22 16 19 29 12,14,15,15
26-37
11 10 19,21 14 14 15 21 35 35 12 10
He seems most like I1a-AS5 and a little like I1a-AS4, but not "right on" for
either.
Our origin is believed to be Württemberg though I don't consider it proven.
We
are certainly "Pennsylvania Deutsch."
