But Sasson, the YCC has unfortunately been pretty dormant for a while
now. It's a great idea, but it has to be active to be a serious force
in the field. It doesn't have any authority vested in it other than
what the various scientists choose to give it. If they ignore it, it
will become irrelevant. For it to function, they will have to agree to
cooperate -- it has no power of enforcement. I'm very much in favor of
cooperation, but there is a lot of rivalry, and we will have to see if
people can get together again to produce a new YCC tree that will be a
consensus statement.

By the way, I am using a new subject line because on this list, we try
not to use subject lines that no longer refer to what we're talking
about, when the topic of a thread changes.
