Subject: [DNA] Scotland DNA Project
Greetings!
Today, I founded the Scotland DNA Project. While there exists a Scottish Clans DNA
Project, along with many individual clan surname projects, there wasn't a project
for those not affiliated with a clan. My Scottish heritage includes clans MacCallum,
Thompson and McKirdy, and my non-clan Scottish heritage includes Caird, Telfer, Pratt,
Baillie, and several others.
It is not my goal or desire to compete with any clan or surname projects.
Carefully, I went through and compared Scottish surnames to ones that
were associated with the Shetland Islands, Border Reivers, and existing clan and
surname projects. I did my best to avoid surnames from the aforementioned
projects. I even avoided names that appear in Scotland, like Bisset, but that are
French derived.
I would greatly appreciate any referrals from James Elliott, David Faux, and the clan project
admins for those of Scottish heritage that do not qualify for your projects.
The Scotland DNA Project also welcomes all ladies and lasses of direct maternal
Scottish descent to include their mtDNA results in the project.
Please contact me if you'd like to join and use the FTDNA gift certificates.
The Scotland DNA Project results are available for viewing on the project website:
