Herb, part of my welcome message to the NGGP transfers is to observe that 12
markers are rarely enough for genealogy and that they will probably want to
consider a upgrade to 25 or 37 markers at some stage.

A good percentage do choose to upgrade, which makes them more valuable to
the project and their dna testing more helpful to them. It would be nice if
the need to upgrade weren't a surprise to them, but so far only one has
gotten upset about being told he should consider an upgrade. I'd day that
the net to my projects from NGGP transfers is very positive.

Personally, I am R1b, pretty close to the SWAMH, and have my 12 and 25
marker matches hidden. I'm always interested in a 37 marker match!

Best regards, Terry Barton

Our Group does business with FTDNA but the Genographic project doesn't help
us from our meager learning process. 12 markers do not kin make. WE have
about 50 participants and it takes all 37 to know who you are kin to in our
little group.

What bothers me is we get all the e-mails from 12 marker people who think
they are kin.
