Subject: Reversal of numbers-genetic aspect

Dear David,

I was interested to see that you, too, reverse digits. I thought I
was the only one. I did not discover that I was doing it until I was an
adult. As a child I always did very well in all subjects at school but
math. I developed an extreme aversion to math, although I loved algebra
in its various forms. It wasn't until I was in my 30s that I discovered
I would think "35" and actually write "53". I still do it fairly
frequently, especially when I am tired. It makes keeping a check book
hard because I think I have written the correct number most of the
time. Maybe there is a genetic element tothis problem. I had heard of
reversal of letters, but have no problem with that. And no one ever
writes about reversing numbers.
