Gareth. Where have you been this week?
From a historical perspective, FTDNA has been testing haplogroup
subclades in certain haplogroup for a long time. For example I have
known that I am R1b1 for a long time. However subclade testing as a
major product focus, and deeper subclade testing at FTDNA was simply not
a product they actively promoted. And as we all know and have heard the
frequent gripes on this List FTDNA did the YSNP testing as they could
fit it into their primary YSTR testing lab work.
But things have now changed. Didn't you see the announcement this week.
FTDNA certainly does test haplogroup subclades as a main product
offering as of this week. They announced a whole bunch of deep subclade
packages this week. See the announcement at the top of their homepage:
