Dear Patricia
I did a quick comparison of M8PSX against the various R1b "clusters" I
describe at www.geocities.com/mcewanjc/ With only 25 markers can't make
a lot of statements other than:
* almost certainly R1b (as FTDNA suggest) 7 mismatches against R1b modal
versus 16 against R1a modal.
* unlikely to be R1bSTR19Irish (this is the same as David Wilson's Irish
defined group) with 10 mismatches
* Based on only 25 markers I cannot suggest with any degree of
reliability what cluster you are part of.
* Based on surname matches may be of English or Welsh ancestry.
Hope this helps
John McEwan

Subject: [DNA] DNA question
Hi, I just recently rejoined the list after several months away. I was
wondering if there is anything new to help me to understand a relative's
results.
I do belong to the surname group but he doesn't have any matches there.
I
did look through the list archives but wasn't really sure what to search
for.
I did notice some discussion on the possibility of certain markers
representing a group such as the Irish.
I would appreciate any insight as to his results as he doesn't have any
25
marker matches at FTDNA.
You can locate his results at Ysearch - M8PSX
Thanks,
Patricia
