Subject: Re: [DNA] Out-of-surname matching (was: Assyrian Heritage DNA Project)
Date: Tue, 10 Jan 2006 11:42:53 EST
My in my Morgan line, I can only get back to 1870. My ggrandfather Morgan
stated to his children that he was Scots-Irish and I find that I have no matches
with any other Morgan but match all the Scotish names including Fergus,
Ferguson, and all the Mac's. I have a 37 marker near match with a Cowen.
Yesterday or the day before, I requested to join the Scottish DNA Project and
haven't heard from them. My question is, do you think that it would benefit
me to join Clan Donald instead Scottish DNA, whom I may never hear from?
Thanks for any help.

However, it's there, you just have to look around. My own male line,
back to my great grandfather dead end, is there, as is the line
of the dead end's wife ... all the way back to dear Arnulf, Somerled,
Fergus mac Erc, Toirrdelbach, Niall of the 9 Hostages, and Agricola of
Dyfed. And that's just the relatively acceptable lines ...
