Subject: Re: [DNA] Variances of Isles R1b Varieties - "South Irish"

I've spent some time culling the original Trinity College
"Patrilineal" data spreadsheet
(located at: http://www.gen.tcd.ie/molpopgen/data.htm)
to isolate the entries which matched Ken's "South Irish" haplotype.
Only these 4 relevant markers are available: 390,391,385b,439.
(There are 4 other markers not in the study which Ken also identified as
being part of the S.I. haplotype: 447=24,456=15,442=13,C4=24)
From the original 1125 entries, I removed the following:
entries that aren't R1b (leaving 985)
entries that aren't 391=10 (leaving 317)
entries that aren't 385b=15 (leaving 123)
entries that aren't 439=11 (leaving 78)
entries that aren't 390=24 (leaving 74)
Of the 74 remaining "South Irish" entries, here is the surname breakdown.
Donohoe 13 (73 originally)
O'Sullivan 11 (67)
McCarthy 9 (66)
McEvoy 8 (50)
Bradley 6 (30)
McGillicuddy 4 (21)
Murphy 4 (65)
Byrne 3 (60)
Dunleavy 3 (12)
O'Connor 3 (9)
O'Neill 3 (80)
Kennedy 2 (67)
Geary 1 (7)
Kelly 1 (55)
McGinn 1 (19)
McGuiness 1 (99)
McVeigh 1 (10)
I have a possible "historical" explanation for the "South Irish"
cluster, but that's a topic for another day...
