There are no SNP tests which help us choose between the various kinds of
I1a. Look at the Tree at www.northwestanalysis.net
M227+ is a quite small population found mainly in Eastern Europe. M21+ and
M72+ have never been confirmed with new sightings, out of hundreds of I1a
haplotypes being SNP tested for those mutations.
The only way to break I1a up into sub-populations is by looking at the
extended haplotypes. The varieties of I1a are shown in the spreadsheet at
the website given above.
I don't think much effort has been made to find SNPs *within* haplogroup
I1a. Wish I had a lab.
