Hi Susan,
As you learn more, you will find that if the Uncle is the father of the
cousins, they most likely have the same Haplotype, so no real need to test
all of them. If their father is not the same surname they will have
different Haplotypes. They all could have the same Haplogroup and not be
closely related. It would be better to get a distant cousin tested then an
Uncle and his sons... or even a person of the same surname who your not sure
if they are related or not.. then it helps prove a reltionship.

Example my brother tested and the admin for the Gilpin projected tested, we
have no known paper trail.. we are two generation steps from each other( 2
mutations) this mean we are related with in 20 generations.. LOL somewhere.
WE have to find where... My line dead ends in 1828 in Ohio and hers goes
back to Ireland. So this tells me to look into the Gilpins in Ireland. about
the 1500's. Now we are pretty sure a Gilpin from the English family went to
Ireland about that time frame... so?? What is good is that we did a DYS464
extended test with DNAFP and found my brother has an unusual result. 15c,
15c, 16c, 17.1g. the 17.1g is quite abnormal and may be a family trait,
which will help identify close relatives.

Good luck with your research
