All goes back to Zaida (Isabella) m. King Alfonso VI de León y Castile
(1040-1109)see http://klausjames.tripod.com/royal.html...

The English Queen Eliz II went to Morrocco a while back and was treated with
great reverence. They presented her with a type of sword which only
descendants of the Prophet, p, may wear (at Mecca I think).

Descended from Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib who was murdered by the Sunni. The
Queen would be a Shiite then! Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib was buried in the Iman
Ali Mosque in Najaf, Iraq http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ali Hence no wonder
the US forces were careful around it!

"Ali was the cousin of Muhammad, and after marriage to Fatima Zahra(The
Prophet Muhammad's, daughter.), he also became Muhammad's, son-in-law."

So if you are a Earl of Desmond Fitzgerald, Tyrone O'Neill you have a
remarkable genealogy.

(One of the reasons Henry VII + VIII + Queen Elizabeth I were so keen to
wipe out/control the Irish Earls was they knew their ancestry had a superior
claim to the throne of England than the Tudors.)

And he a descendant of Ferdinand III Castile who is a descendant of
Muhammad the Prophet.

Could you enlighten me on the historical basis for that remark? I genuinely
am interested because I've never heard of it before.
