No, they were from what is now Slovakia. According to my autosomal DNA,
in centuries past some of them must have been in Germany and Silesia,
and in Lithuania or somewhere further east. And at least one line were
Tatars. No Pirates of the Caribbean or the Arabian Sea, etc.
Also, Eric's suggestion about the colonization of India will not work in
this case, because my autosomal matches are geographically widespread in
India and include two castes and several non-caste tribal groups, and
several language families, seven matches at the top of my list and an
eighth further down. Not something a philanderer could accomplish, I
think. The match must be very old.
