near-hits with anyone in Iberia and am 13 mismatches off the R1b modal.

wonder if my own ancestors wintered the LGM someplace outside Iberia,

in Italy or Anatolia, or perhaps near the Black Sea.

Dear Rich

If you are interested the first thing to do is test for S28 and S21,
both of these are subclades of R1b1c that are unlikely to have
overwintered in Iberia during the LGM. A glance at your haplotype with
no further checks suggests maybe S21 for you.
