It isn't a comparison that is dwelled on, no, most of the comparisons
referred to are Ireland and coastal Norway (similar and similar/slightly
earlier respectively).

A very brief summary would be this:

Earliest definite human evidence is Cramond Edinburgh 8500BC - reindeer
remains from 40kbp though. Earliest actual human remains is a humerus of a
child at Rashoille, Oban dated 3940-3650BC
Mesolithic Scottish population 1560-7020 which equates to 2-9/100km^2

Scandinavian and Scottish ice caps may have met in the North Sea basin. To
the west the Scottish and Outer Hebridean caps merged but Shetland had an
independent cap and Orkney was overwhelmed by mainland ice. Maximum southern
extent into England was 18kbp; this was followed by the Loch Lomond
reglaciation c 11-10kbp. Latter covers whole of western Highlands from north
of Glasgow to level with Stornoway. ('the West Highland Icefield'). Temps
warmed up quite quickly from about 10200BP and ice went rapidly.

whether the settlment of Scotland and northern parts of Ireland lagged
substantially the settling of more southerly parts of the British Isles,
recognizing that for much of this period they were not isles at all?"
