Hi Joan,

The relationship between the SMGF input values and the positioning of the four output squares in not intuitive, but here's the easiest way to determine DYS464 values:

1) Start by entering your known haplotype plus 11 11 11 11 for DYS464.
2) Note the number of light blue squares for 464 on the Results page (e.g. 0)
3) Increment DYS464 to 12 12 12 12
4) Note the number of light blue squares (e.g. 1)
3) Increment DYS464 to 13 13 13 13
4) Note the number of light blue squares (e.g. 2)
5) Continue incrementing by +1 +1 +1 +1 until your running total of light blue squares reaches four. You'll then have your DYS464 haplotye (e.g. 12 13 13 15)

See http://www.smgf.org/ychromosome/marker_details.jspx?marker=DYS464 for DYS464 alleles. Note there are a few values <11 and some microvariants (e.g. 13.3), but iterating from 11 11 11 11 through 19 19 19 19 will find most 464 values.

Good luck with your searching.

Regards, Leo

Dear List,

I am attempting to fill in 464 values for known haplotypes, but can't see a correlation between my search page inputs and the little blue squares on the results page. Should anyone know how to find DYS464 values in SMGF, please post your secret.
