According to the article on French regional mtDNA variation, something like
30,000 people migrated from England to Brittany. That was alot of people
in the 5th century. Assuming they settled in villages and other groupings,
there should also have been founder effects.

Brittany contributed a large share of emigrants to New France.

Since the west coast of Europe and the British Isles were pretty
genetically homogenous before back and forth movement across teh English
Channel, I rather doubt how much back migration to Brittany had to do with
modern population genetics or with skin and hair color of people in
Brittany, but that could explain a small amount of DNA appearing to travel
from Britain to France to Quebec.
