R1b1c7 is about 3,400 years old according to John McEwan;

Since the surname FERGUSON is only about 700 years old I am wondering if
all R1b1c7 FERGUSON share a common ancestor within the past 700 years. I
suspect the answer is no and that by the time surnames came into being
there were several persons who would have adopted the surname sharing no
common ancestor within the past 2,000 to 3,000 years.
