These nice four nucleotides do not behave well as expected of randomly
mutating nucleotides.

Just look at transition from D to D2b - FIVE parallel mutations! And there
are many other odd things...

All this facts undermine the validity of Standard Rooting (done by comparing
to chimps and ignoring possibility of muliple parallel mutations).

In any case, McEwan's analysis does use a fudge factor, and removing it
brings J1 nd J2, and other E2b, into range of historic, rather than
pre-historic, interpretation.
