Subject: [DNA] mtDNA Haplogroup C exact HVR1 match.
Date: Fri, 17 Nov 2006 09:32:07 -0800

Hi,
Recently FTDNA informed me of an exact HVR1 match with someone else. We
are mtDNA haplogroup C and you can find my mtDNA HVR1 results on
MitoSearch under the user ID of *RKBPH* . The other person hasn't, as
yet, entered her mtDNA results into MitoSearch.

I wondering what our next steps would be? and
What can I really say about a match at our HVR1 in terms of TMRCA?

What I told this other person is that the HVR1 exact match may indicate
an ancient or more recent common ancestor. I told her that one way to
see if it was more recent or ancient would be for her to test her HVR2.
If we continued to match on HVR2 then that would indicate a more recent
common ancestor. And mismatching "alot" in the HVR2 would indicate a
more ancient common ancestor. We both don't know much about our
grandparents and even less about our great grandparents ...

My autosomal markers indicate "Aboriginal Apache" with highest
percentage, but I don't know how much relevance the autosomal results
carry ... Should I ask her to test her autosomal markers too?
Al
