Nelda,

"Eickemeyer, Andreas, B-?, S#18,400, POW-location unkn."

This is my "Hessian" in the American Revolution. I had met Mr. Merz through the Internet and he helped me determine that Andreas (Andrew) was b c 1742 in Naensen, Lower Saxony, GER.

The family tradition has always been that Andreas was a weaver who was kidnapped by German forces and his services "sold" to George III for service in America against the Americans.

After the way he settled in Northumberland Co., PA where he died c 1811. He married Sophia LNU and had at least two sons, Johannes (John) and Andreas (Andrew). I was able to locate church records for this family at Zions or Stone Valley Lutheran and Reformed Church in Lower Mahanoy Township, Northumberland Co., PA.

Johannes or John moved his family to Holmes Co., OH where my great-great-grandfather was born. He in turn moved his family from Ohio to Indiana c 1860-61. My great-grandfather was b in Holmes Co., OH in 1859 and died in Putnam Co., IN in 1939.

He had two children - a son and a daughter. Uncle Roy had three daughters and one son. I have contacted him and have been unable to convince him to submit for YDNA testing. He is unmarried and has no children that I am aware of or that he will admit to. :>)

By the time my grandmother was born the spelling of the name had undergone several changes but in my family it is spelled Ikamire. Other branches of the family have spelled it Achemire.

Sharon
