I saw three. Two are in my "maverick" group. One is confirmed DYS462 = 12
as well as the DYS511 = 9 you saw, so he is in my AS classification. The
most parsimonious explanation for his haplotype is a mutation from 22 to 23
at 390 and from 13 to 14 at 385a over the course of the thousands of years
back to the founder of I1a. Given the mutation rates, this must occur in
some small fraction of the lines up to the present.
This haplotype should not be in I1a-Norse as much as the person would like
to be a Norman (he's a good friend of mine so I can tease).
I'd love to have all "maverick" haplotypes test for DYS462. That would be
particularly informative in these cases.
