On that point, does anyone have the Forster paper from 1996 that discusses
"rho" calculations? Here is the citation:
Forster P, Harding R, Torroni A, Bandelt H-J (1996) Origin and Evolution of
Native American mtDNA Variation: A reappraisal. American Journal of Human
Genetics 59:935-945
Cruciani uses this method as a check against Zhivotosky's approach; he
claims that the MRCA times calculated using Forster's dating method from
this paper are actually a bit shorter than those calculated using Z.'s
approach.
This has been a really fascinating discussion and I appreciate all of our
math and genetics experts chiming in.
Thanks in advance,
Steve
