I have found the email from Professor Bonne. It is appended below. He
made a little typo but it is clear that he said we need to correct the
DYS439 values down by 4 counts! So DYS439=17 goes to DYS439=13, ...,
etc. I'm attaching the whole email from below, him header and all. I
just followed his advice. I did not confirm the logic of it all ...

Dear Mr. Aburto,
I do not know if professor M. Hammer has written to you about your query. In
the meantime I found out that the STR locus was found in Dr. Hammer's lab.
in Arizona and they used to name it as TAGA. Later, Ayoub et al. also found
that microsatellite, submitted it to genebank and have got DRS439 number.
The results in Table 3 of the four Samaritan lineages for DYS439 have to be
12-11-10-13 instead of16-15-14-17. You were indeed right that the results
seemed to you too high by several points. The highest value of DYS439 of the
Samaritans is thus 13 and not 17..The mistake is not critical for the
specific conclusion of our paper, but certainly for comparison of the results
with other population, it is very important.
Thank you very much for making us aware of this mistake.
Sincerely
Batsheva Bonne-Tamir,Ph.D.
Professor of Human Genetics
