I should have listed my source. I had in mind a recent article by Goran Burenhult, the Swedish archaeologist who did much research at Carrowmore, that was published in British Archaeology May/June 2007. See

Although Burenhult admits the dating is controversial (I believe a new soil-dating procedure is used), he gives 5620-5310 BC as a possible date for Carrowmore's Tomb 4 .
I read somewhere, but cannot locate the reference, that nearby Croaghaun tomb was found to be even earlier. In any event, the original question was whether the megalithic builders were R1b. The builders of Carrowmore surely were.
