It's long been traditional in megalith research to laugh at the modern
"druid" fascination with Stonehenge and other megalithic sites, on the
basis that there is supposedly no connection between the ancient
Britons who built the monuments and the much later "Celtic" Druids,
presuming some kind of Celtic invasion displacing the original
population of megalith builders.
But DNA research seems time and again to be exploding these ideas of
take-no-prisoners invasions. It would seem there's much more of a
continuity in the British Isles than thought previously. Maybe the
druids have a claim to the megalith tradition.
