When you say that that is the question, you imply it can be answered.
At present, the only answer with any justification at all is "the
haplogroup that is overwhelmingly prevalent there now". To say "any
haplogroup(s) *but* the one that is prevalent there now" is not an
answer, and never will be an answer. I submit that improved DNA
analysis technology is the only hope for a convincing answer, and that
even improved technology may be unable to overcome the problems of
contamination and post-mortem mutation. Maybe we should focus on
asking genealogical questions instead.
