<<Unfortunately, the way incorrect genealogical
information is being propigated by the Internet is only going to
increase the probability that pedigrees submitted to genetic genealogy
projects will contain the wrong ancestors.>>

I agree, but I don't know why anyone would think that the internet is a
proper place to do genealogical research, since there aren't many documents yet
available. Of course, I use the databases online (mostly LDS, which saves me
a trip to the Family History Center), and I have occasionally picked up a
valuable clue on a message board; however, most of the time I am working with
original records--either in archives, on microfilm, or in published abstracts.
The latter need careful checking, though, since important information is
sometimes omitted. I admit I'm fortunate in where I live--only a few miles
from the Library of Virginia and since most of my ancestors settled in Virginia
in the 17th century, there isn't much I need which isn't readily available.
I became interested in DNA testing, because few Virginia records before c
1650 have survived and I hope in time to find the English ancestors of some of
my lines.
