Sam,
Congratulations. It will be interesting to see how interested the public is
in the new evidence and what the general reception will be. I'm so glad to
begin seeing DNA becoming part of the mainstream.

Thank you for your letters.
I have written a book about this that just came out today in a new edition.
http://www.amazon.com/Slave-Children-Thomas-Jefferson/dp/1881373029/
If you are interested in obtaining this book, be sure to get the new
edition, just out today, with the girl on the cover, as the older editions
do not discuss the DNA evidence.
The new edition has 142 new pages, or a total of 472 pages in all. Most of
the new pages discuss the DNA retesting that has taken place in 2007.
However, the last 14 pages are of special interest because they include four
letters I have uncovered from the Great Granddaughter of Sally Hemings which
indicate what happened to Sally and her children after Thomas Jefferson died
in 1826 (there is no further record of her) and also suggest that Thomas
Jefferson had other slave children by other mistresses besides Sally.
I refer to these four letters as "The Captain Letters". It seems possible
that the name "Captain" may come from the belief that Sally's grandmother
was brought to America by a "Captain Hemings". These letters have never been
published anywhere previously.
