In 1939, Poland was invaded by two rapacious tyrants. Poland's allies
treacherously did nothing despite their 'security guarantees'.
In 1945, Poland's allies treacherously handed it over to one of the two
rapacious tyrants after the other had killed himself.
America's entry into World War II liberated several countries, and my father
was proud to play his very substantial part in doing so; but it is incorrect
to claim that it liberated Poland. Poland was simply handed off from one
tyrant to another.
But we've definitely strayed OT.
